Looking for something fun to do in Santa Barbara? The Funk Zone is a small neighborhood near the beach that’s full of energy, color, and great places to explore. It’s a favorite spot for both locals and visitors, and once you visit, you’ll see why.
Street Art and Local Vibes
The first thing you’ll notice in the Funk Zone is the art. The buildings are covered in colorful murals and painted signs. It feels like an outdoor gallery. You can walk around, snap some photos, and check out small art studios and galleries along the way.
Sip, Savor, and Explore Santa Barbara Wine
The Funk Zone is a total treat for wine lovers. Nearly every corner has a cozy tasting room pouring delicious wines from Santa Barbara County. Try Pali Wine Co., Melville Winery, or Santa Barbara Wine Collective to sip something special and maybe find a new favorite. Not a wine drinker? No worries. There are cool breweries, chill cocktail spots, and plenty of fun places to hang out.
And if you're visiting in July, you’re in for something special. The Beachside Wine Festival, part of the 2025 California Wine Festival – Santa Barbara, is happening on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Chase Palm Park Oceanside. VIPs get early access at 12:00 PM, and general admission runs from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.
This festival brings together everything that makes Santa Barbara amazing. You’ll get to sample hundreds of wines, craft brews, and tasty bites like cheese, chocolate, olive oil, and more. A live band will be playing all afternoon, creating the perfect soundtrack for a day by the sea.
